Born in 1979, saxophonist Nicolas Kummert has performed in more than 30 countries worldwide. He graduated from the Koninklijk Conservatorium van Brussel in 2001 and in 2003 was awarded the Belgian Django d’Or for best young talent.

Playing with the Alexi Tuomarila Quartet he won international jazz contests in Granada, Avignon and Hoeilaart and recorded 3 CDs: ‘Voices of Pohjola’ (IGLOO), ‘02’ (Warner Music) and "RUNE X" (AEDA) The quartet has performed at great festivals around the world, including Paris, Sidney, Trondheim, Athens, Lisbon and Helsinki.

Saxophonist Nicolas Kummert has performed in more than 30 countries worldwide. He graduated from the Koninklijk Conservatorium van Brussel in 2001 and in 2003 was awarded the Belgian Django d’Or for best young talent.

Nicolas Kummert has also recorded and played with Qu4tre (CDs ‘4’, ‘Submarine’ and 'live @ Kfee'), Pierre Van Dormael & Vivaces (CD ‘Vivaces’ with St. Galland, Ch. Sardjoe, K. Defoort, Bo and Otti Vanderwerf), Alchimie (CD ‘Alchimie’), Jambangle (‘Remembrance’ and ‘Trinity Song’), Grass Monkeys and Molo Trio.

With friend Jef Neve on Hammond organ, Nicolas Kummert created Groove Thing.

With Toine thys, he co-leads WALRUS (www.myspace.com/walrusjazz) a double tenor quartet with the great rhythm-section formed by Nic Thys and Karl Jannuska.

Alongside these “jazz” projects, he plays with different African singers, such as Patrick Ruffino (E wa ka djo CD, Nocturne 2008), the Inno De Sadjo Afro Soul experience, Djakhobo and John Arcadius.

He collaborates with different DJ's such as DJ Grazzhoppa DJ BigBand (11 DJ's and 5 musicians/singers who reinvent the art of mixing turntablism and live music), MissMee (Rubba Biskit chez RobSoul recordings), Patrick Balzat, Double Axl and has been touring Europe and beyond (Moscow,Acapulco,Mykonos...) with DJ Vincenzo Binci and his Movida Band, with events in renowned clubs such as the Barrio Latino in Paris or the Ministry of Sound in London.

And last but not least, Nicolas Kummert is leader of his own brand-new project nicolas kummert -voices-
